On Monday, May 4th, researchers, clinicians, and community members will rally at the State Capitol to call on our elected representatives to support the California Science and Health Research Bond (SB 895).

Transportation is available from around the state. RSVP to reserve your spot on the bus, and make a plan with your lab members or other colleagues to attend together!

  • Dear ___,

I imagine you've heard of the substantial cuts to Federal research funding in the President's latest budget proposal, and I want to make sure you're aware of an exciting effort right now to insulate our state from this crisis by placing a $23 bond on the ballot this November to fund research in California. You can read more about the bill, SB 895, that would do all this in the attached info sheet. This legislation has the support of a bipartisan group of more than 40 state legislators, a coalition including UC, UAW, and other unions, universities, and patient advocacy groups, and over 4000 of our colleagues who have signed an open letter at www.fundCAscience.org. However, many of our elected representatives have not yet committed their support.

The University of California, the United Auto Workers, and a number of other organizations are partnering to organize a rally in Sacramento on Monday, May 4th to call on our representatives to place this bond on the November ballot. University of California President JB Milliken and United Auto Workers International President Shawn Fain will be featured speakers, and attendance at the rally is the single most impactful thing that researchers and clinicians can do right now to support the bond and the future of scientific research in California.

I plan to attend along with my lab, and I encourage you to do the same. Bus transportation will be provided to and from the event, so please RSVP along with your lab members using this link:
